At Majorens Kro og Stue in Gamlebyen you can enjoy your own catch of the day, sit in an area that looks like a copy of Roald Amundsens Framheim and be taken on a journey back in time.

Majoren, as it is called by the locals has been a much loved place in Gamlebyen for 28 years. With a kitchen that embraces both the local and international cuisine, there is something to enjoy for every taste. With a passion for food everything is made from scratch, often combined with stories from a time long past.


You will be welcomed by staff wearing costumes that will take you back in to the old story of Gamlebyen. Both furniture and design brings a unique historic atmosphere to the place. Here you can enjoy everything from authentic Wiener Schnitzel made from the topside of veal, to home cured and smoked meat, fish, sea birds and seal, moose and deer.


Up to 12 people can enjoy sitting in Framheim and be served both food and stories from the time that Adolf Lindstrøm was the chef on Roald Amundsens expeditions. Majorens Kro og Stue gives you a great dining experience and is well worth a visit. They even have their own sommelier making sure your wine matches the great food.
