Whats On?

THE TALL SHIPS RACES

The regattas are organized by Sail Training International and started in 1956. The Tall Ships Races typically attract a fleet of 70-100 vessels from about 20 countries and of every size from 30ft yachts to square rigged ships over 300 feet long. Most years some 3.000-4.000 young people (aged 15-25) from close to 30 countries take part.

The ships arrive on July 11 and sail on July 14th. The three-leg event will see a fleet of international Tall and Small Ships sail from Aalborg, Denmark to Fredrikstad, Norway in an exciting race in the Skagerrak and North Sea, incorporating a number of waypoints.

The international fleet will then enjoy a spectacular cruise-in-company along the coast of Norway to Bergen, before finally racing back to Aarhus in Denmark.
