The Tall Ships Races Fredrikstad

The Tall Ships Races 2019

Fredrikstad is hosting The Tall Ships Races 11th to the 14th of July 2019. The Tall Ships Races is the world’s largest sailing ships event and one of the biggest sports events in the world.

The regattas are organized by Sail Training International and started in 1956. The Tall Ships Races typically attract a fleet of 70-100 vessels from about 20 countries and of every size from 30ft yachts to square rigged ships over 300 feet long. Most years some 3.000-4.000 young people (aged 15-25) from close to 30 countries take part.

Fredrikstad will host the Tall Ship Races for the third time in 2019.

The Tall Ships Races 2019

This three-leg event will see a fleet of international Tall and Small Ships sail from Aalborg, Denmark to Fredrikstad, Norway in an exciting race in the Skagerrak and North Sea, incorporating a number of waypoints.

The international fleet will then enjoy a spectacular cruise-in-company along the coast of Norway to Bergen, before finally racing back to Aarhus in Denmark.

Each port has committed to sending over at least 100 trainees from their local community to take part in the event to deliver the message of international friendship and understanding.
