Fredrikstad Cruise Port is investing in the future

Fredrikstad Cruise Ports new main dock was officially opened on the 27th of October 2015  – with an ax and big fanfare.

Borg Havns new quay Øra Main Dock were celebrated on the 27th of October 2015 when Tore Lundestad, Port Director proudly announced the quay for official opened. Furthermore, he emphasized that this is an investment in the future for all areas of Borg Havns business, including the focus on cruise traffic in the years to come. Fredrikstad Cruise Port is getting ready for bigger ships with this 7,2 million US dollar investment and Caroline Pettersen, Sales Manager Cruise was very exited to be present at the opening together with several other guests.

 

- I am thrilled about the opportunity this gives us in Fredrikstad Cruise Port to welcome new ships and offer modern facilities to the cruise lines, like fresh water supplies, waste handling and bunker oil available from barge. We can also offer LNG supplied by trucks. This new, state of the art, sustainable port terminal will benefit all our cruise guests. For Fredrikstad Cruise Port this is a milestone that takes us one step closer to our position as the gateway to the Oslofjord.

 

Facts Øra main dock

 

The total length of the quay is 340 meter with 12,5 meter depth suitable for cruise ships up to 290 meter and 8 meter deep, due to other conditions. The new main dock has state of the art moorings and foamfenders. When it comes to transportation there is good alignment opportunities for bus traffic. Øra main dock is very close to the city of Fredrikstad and the railroad and not very far from the main highway. Furthermore, there are good opportunities for connections directly onto smaller cruise ships/ferries for ShoreEx and boat transportation to the old town of Fredrikstad and the Oslofjord.

 

Fredrikstad Cruise Port is a member of Cruise Norway and Cruise Europe and it is the main port for the cruise-network in the Østfold region. The network is supported by among others Innovation Norway.
