How to get here

Located in the south eastern part of Norway, Østfold is the Gateway to Norway, and both the E6 and E18 roads pass through the county from the Swedish border. Østfold is easily accessible by plane, car or public transport. 

The main highway E6 between Oslo and Gothenburg runs as a motorway through Østfold from the southern border with Sweden and the border with Akershus county. The main highway E18 between Oslo and Stockholm goes through the county from the Swedish border in a southeast-northwest direction.

 

Østfold is easily reached with Moss Interantional Airport in Rygge. Ryanair is the main company supplying this airport with international flights. 

 

Rent a car from Sixt car rental at the airport and explore Østfold. You can pick up and drop off your car at both Moss Rygge Airport and Gøteborg Airport.

From Oslo

 

Timeexpressen (express bus) has departures to Fredrikstad and Hvaler, Halden, Sarpsborg and Moss and Mysen and Askim every hour.

 

There is also a good train service to and from Oslo to Moss, Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg and Halden and to Askim, Mysen and Rakkestad.

 

By car - E6 to Gøteborg.

 

 

From Sweden

 

By car - E6 towards Oslo.


From Strømstad you can take the passenger ferry M/S Vesleø 2 to Skjærhalden on the Hvaler Islands.
